Four years later, Troy suffered a permanent birth injury, leading to countless hours with doctors and lawyers. This took a toll on her marriage, resulting in her becoming a single mother of three. These challenges proved to be the force that forged Sandy's resilience. She embraced running, joining a running club and quickly progressing from running a mile to running a full marathon. With the same determination, Sandy continued her educational journey, earning a bachelor's degree in IT management and a master's degree in cybersecurity. She re-prioritized her goals to focus on Michael, who underwent his third open-heart surgery. His surgery was a success, and Sandy returned to her academic pursuits, completing her degree in nine months.
