"Melodies to Code: Eric Frey's Coding Symphony"
I am thrilled to introduce you all to Eric Frey for Episode 2 of our spotlight series. Eric hails from Nashville, TN, and he's a man of many talents. He's a Grammy-nominated musician, recognized for his contribution to the Best Regional Root Music Album, "Get Ready," by the band called "The Revelers." In addition to his musical prowess, Eric is a certified home inspector and now a proficient software developer, not to mention a master of puns :P.
Eric's journey began at the University of Alabama, where he majored in Music Technology. Since then, he's been on the road, captivating audiences at music festivals and events. However, Eric realized the importance of carving out time for himself and his family. This led him to become a certified Home Inspector, driven by his passion for home modeling and repairs. But he yearned for more and Eric's interest in software development was piqued when he observed his fellow musicians achieving success after attending the Nashville Software School. He enrolled part-time and later transitioned to full-time studies, ultimately graduating in 2023. This week, he's also set to begin his role as an instructor at the same school.
Eric's dedication shines through as he enjoys solving intricate problems and delving deep into expanding his knowledge. He's not shy about sharing his progress with fellow software developers to gain further insights. He identified a limitation in an unnamed software tool for tracking job applications and decided to create "HireFrame." This innovative software uses a kanban visual board to streamline and visualize job applications. I'm certain many job seekers will benefit from this tool once it's fully developed.
Eric's passion for home building led to his creation of "Get Sh*t Done," an application designed to help plan and track tasks and materials related to home projects. Additionally, he's collaborating with a teammate on an application that tracks the art of a recently deceased artist.
Eric's story serves as a powerful reminder that it's never too late to acquire new skills and excel in them. Learning new skills to solve real-world problems is a key component of personal growth. Remember to find joy and have fun in everything you choose to pursue in life. I salute Eric for his unwavering perseverance and adaptability in today's ever-changing world. If you'd like to learn more about his applications or connect with him, please don't hesitate to reach out to Eric.
